Chapter Forty-Two
Simon
We’re a team, me and Kane. He makes sure we eat, and floss our teeth, and go to bed at a reasonable hour.
I make sure we don’t die of fucking boredom. And, of course, I’m there if he needs to be someplace else real fast. You know, trauma and shit. He’s a fucking pansy when it comes to that stuff.
Me, on the other hand? I love all them feels. Fear, terror, agony.
Ha, Agony.
I love her feels most of all.
And fuck if she didn’t but come right out and summon me, asking for a three-way. What the fuck did she expect was gonna happen?
But that’s not the only reason I kicked Kane to the curb.
I need me some answers, and stat. Something went down in that Fox Pit with these two. I mean, they were practically spitting venom at each other, then they see, what, a movie, and they can’t wait to tear off each other’s clothes?
And when Kane mentioned it, Owen kinda switched off. I think he’s only just come back online again, especially once his eyes latched onto my bag of heroin.
Turns out, Mallhaven’s got as many dealers as any other town—they wear loafers instead of sneakers, and they add an extra digit to the street price.
Lucky for me, I never got a problem coming up with cash.
Or robbing a drug dealer of his stash.
Owen follows me up the stairs like I hypnotized him. Fuck, maybe I did. He drinks a lot, so ain’t no surprise he likes to party.
Agony hangs back, but not for long. Could be because she doesn’t want to be alone…could also be because she wants to get nasty.
I don’t know the layout of this place, so I start throwing open doors that aren’t locked, hunting for somewhere entertaining.
Fuck, but this place has a lot of guest rooms. I guess from being a hotel prior and everything.
One of the doors open to a study. It’s the smallest room I’ve seen, and looks disused. There’s an orchid in a pot by the window, but it’s long dead.
“No,” Owen says behind me.
He’s awful fucking close, so I don’t bother turning around. “Then this is it.”
A hand grasps my shoulder. “No, not—”
I spin, grab Owen’s throat, and haul him into the room. His eyes are still widening when I shove him against the wall.
“Tonight, I’m the Master of the house.”
Owen’s eyes bulge with incredulity. He reaches for my hand as if to pry my fingers from his throat, but relinquishes when I tighten my grip.
“Got it?” I say, forcing the words through my teeth.
Owen manages a minuscule nod. I rip away my hand and step back as he goes to his knees, doubling over and letting out a wretched choke.
Agony’s at his side a second later. She glares up at me, but I tut-tut her with a finger. “Same goes for you, missy.”
“Get out!” she yells, stabbing an imperious finger toward the study door. “Now!”
I bristle, my lips twisting into a sneer. “What’s the matter? Suddenly not so sure you handle two cocks?”
Her cheeks burn bright.
